Your pessimism is understandable and...Dear Amatya,

Your pessimism is understandable and for the short run, I share it. In fact, I haven't even said that Hinduism will bounce back and become dominant again. It is possible that Hinduism will disappear, that therefore the secularist campaign against it will also disappear, that completely different issues will take over, and that then some PhD student will come up with the strange idea of researching the history debates of around the turn of the millennium. Then he will have to conclude that the secularist historians were wrong and were guilty of an unnecessary polarization, though they generally prevailed. His dissertation will then be read by the jury and maybe by his parents, some ten people in total, and then gather dust. But to the common people, living in Romila Thapan Lane or on the Irfan Habib Boulevard, this will be an esoteric subject without interest. Still, the eminent historians will have been proven wrong.

The one factor that could make a difference is Hindus' own involvement. But in that regard, I see only a few marginal groups doing the work.
Koenraad Elsthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02503713923882807510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6138082354348831474.post-60496204149598460432013-12-25T22:29:10.017-08:002013-12-25T22:29:10.017-08:00Sir,

I'm curious about the below statement made by you:

'In the very long run, of course, truth will be restored. If you can learn anything at all from history, it is that everything changes. So, the present power equation that has made these distortions possible, won’t endure forever. It is a foregone conclusion that one day, the negative role of the secularist historians will be seen for what it was. Western Indologists who chose to toe the secularist line, even against their own research findings, will not look good either. But that will only happen after they are safely dead, after enjoying a life of prestige and positions.'

As you yourself have noticed that Hindus are generally alienated and made to adopt an apathetic outlook towards their own religion, a general Westernization is encouraged in all aspects of lifestyle, how is it that you assert that, '..the present power equation that has made these distortions possible, won’t endure forever' or '..that will only happen after they are safely dead(..)'.

We notice that the power equations are only become more and more anti-Hindu; though some efforts are not being seen, mostly online, they're are nowhere compared to what the anti-Hindu lot has managed. Further, these 'eminences' who will die after 'enjoying a life of prestige and positions' have created numerous progeny (ex- "Wendy's children") to carry on their work with even more fervor. I also recall reading in our on your books, something to the effect that 'that Islam will end is a mathematical certainly'. At that time too, I was curious as to how this will happen?

Perhaps by 'very long run', you imply 1000+ yrs? Because in the next 100 yrs, I see Hindu-s becoming a minority in their on homeland - unless Modi really does something serious and the general Hindu population is willing to face the challenges (as opposed to chanting 'all religions are same' or focusing only on their career).

I'm genuinely curious and eager to listen to you on my above queries.

Regards.amAtyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09934555242073853466noreply@blogger.com
